Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the 18 months part-time Diploma in Family Medicine programme of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria for the 2023/2024 session.
General Admission Requirements
1. Candidates wishing to enrol into the programme must be qualified Medical Practitioners with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery or its Equivalent who are fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
2. NYSC Discharge Certificate or Certificate of Exemption from the NYSC
3. Additional qualifications or Fellowship in other specialties can also apply.
Duration of the Programme
The Diploma in Family Medicine is an 18-Month programme ran on Part-time basis. The programme runs on weekends of Friday evenings and the whole of Saturdays at quarterly intervals covering six (6) modules of lectures and practical sessions.
Registration Period – April 2023 – May 2023
Administrative admission processes – June 2023
Commencement of Program – July 2023
Termination of Program – December 2024
Application for Examinations: January – February 2025
Examination – April – May 2025

2. Certificate of Full Registration by MDCN
3. NYSC Certificate or Exemption
4. Current Practicing License or Receipt of renewal (Not older than last years if current year is not available).
5. Birth Certificate

7. Evidence of Payment of all fees
Fees payable for the Programme
DFM Processing/Registration Fee: ₦25,000
Associate Diplomates Registration: ₦30,000
Associate Diplomates Annual Subscription: ₦10,000
Tuition Fee (Quarter): ₦150,000
Examination Fee: ₦200,000
Convocation Fee: ₦350,000
Please note that:
Payment 1 (DFM Processing Fee) must be paid before the close of registration on May 31st, 2023.
Payment 2 (Associate Diplomates Registration Fee) is expected to be paid once before admission into the programme.
Payment 3 (Associate Diplomates Annual Subscription Fee) which is ₦10,000 annually, thus ₦20,000 over 18 months of the programme is to be paid once before admission into the programme.
Payment 4 (Course fee) of N600,000 is to be paid once or in a maximum of two installments of ₦300,000 each. The full payment or first instalment must be paid before admission into the programme. Therefore, Payments 2 and 3 and the full payment / first installment of Course Fee must be paid by 30th June 2023. The second installment of the course must be paid before 31st December 2023.
Payment 5 (Examination Fee) – The deadline for the payment of examination fee will be on the last day stipulated for examination registration, 28th February 2025. Please note that the registration for exam will be between 1st January – 28th February 2025.
Payment 6 (convocation fee) is expected to be made once by all Diplomates that are successful at the end of programme exam.
