42nd Convocation Ceremony Celebrates Academic Excellence

The 42nd Convocation Ceremony of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria was a distinguished event commemorating the academic achievements of graduands across four distinct categories. Held on Thursday, September 18, 2024, at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre, the ceremony awarded a total of 393 individuals.

**Graduation Categories Included:
– Postgraduate Diploma in Anaesthesia: 6 graduates
– MD Degree: 14 graduates
– Fellowship Convokees across 16 Faculties: 362 Fellows (including 24 Fellows by Election)
– Post-Fellowship Diploma in Audiological Medicine (ORLHNS): 10 graduates
– Post-Fellowship Advanced Certificate in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry: 1 graduate

The ceremony saw the physical presence of the College’s Principal Officers, Past Principal Officers, Faculty Chairmen, Faculty Secretaries, and 3rd Senate Members. Approximately 45% of the graduands attended in person, while 55% joined virtually. The Faculty of Obstetrics & Gynaecology boasted the highest number of Fellowship convokes with 67 graduands.

The Convocation Lecture, titled **”Internal Heat, Crawling, and Peppery Sensations: Understanding Patients with Fringe Symptoms,”** was delivered by Dr. Owoidoho Udofia, FMCPsych, from the Faculty of Psychiatry. This enlightening lecture offered invaluable insights into understanding patients experiencing unique and often misunderstood symptoms.

The ceremony also honored several esteemed individuals with the Distinguished Fellowship Award for their exceptional contributions to the medical field:
