The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for ASCAF 2026, scheduled to run from Monday, August 3 to Friday, August 7, 2026, was officially inaugurated on February 2, 2026 at the Oakland Hotel, Enugu. The ceremony was presided over by the College Registrar, Prof. Ayodeji Esan, and the College President, Prof. Anthony Ikefuna, marking the formal start of preparations for the landmark conference.
In his address, the College Registrar emphasized that the inauguration empowers the LOC to commence practical work, including the production of conference materials and coordination of logistics. He highlighted the importance of accessible conference hotels, robust scientific programming, and adequate provision for attendees. The College President underscored the national significance of ASCAF, announcing “Sudden Death Among Health Professionals” as a priority theme and confirming seed funding to support preparations.
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including the Honorable Commissioner of Health, Prof. George Ugwu, and senior fellows of the College. The Registrar formally confirmed Enugu as the host zone, citing its hospitality and cultural richness, while the LOC Chairman, Prof. Enweani, pledged to uphold high standards and deliver a memorable conference.
ASCAF 2026 promises to be a premier gathering of scientific engagement, professional networking, leadership reaffirmation, and cultural celebration. The College leadership assured full support to the LOC, affirming that the event “will not fail, must not fail, and cannot fail.”
