The Faculty of Orthopaedics in collaboration with the Onabowale Family organized the Dr. Babatunde O. Onabowale FMCS, FWACS, FICS, 10th Year Memorial Lecture and endowment of prize in the Faculty of Orthopaedics on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island.
The lecture titled “Contemporary Social Values and Leadership Qualities” was delivered by Dr. Okechukwu Mbonu, FMCS, Emeritus Professor of Surgery, Consultant Uro-Surgeon, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.
Speaking at the event, The College President Prof. Rasheed Arogundade, FMCR, PMNC, who was the Chairman on the Occasion, highlighted the fact that documentation of the encounter of Dr. Onabowale with NPMCN is like writing the history of the College as he was one of the first two Fellows of the College in Surgery by examination and was an active Fellow till death
The hightlight of the event was the endowment of prize in the Faculty of Orthopaedics for the best candidate in Part II FMCOrtho dissertation by the Onabowale family.
The event was well attended by colleagues, family members and friends from all works of life. Present were the College Registrar, Prof. Oluwole Atoyebi, FMCS, two Past College Presidents, Dr. L.I.D. Kufeji FMCS, PNMC and Professor A. A. Majekodunmi, FMCOph., PNMC. Also present were two former Health Ministers Professor Adenike Grange FMCPaed and Dr. Christian Onyebuchi Chukwu FWACS
